California Incentives & Rebates
California offers the Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP) for battery storage, with higher rebates for low-income households and fire-prone areas. Property tax exclusion for solar (no increase in property tax). Net metering available through NEM 3.0 (reduced export rates since April 2023). Sales tax exemption does not apply. Note: The federal 30% residential solar tax credit expired December 31, 2025 for customer-owned systems. Solar leases and PPAs may still offer indirect savings from the commercial tax credit. Check with a tax advisor for current eligibility. Source: DSIRE, EnergySage.
